And a question if I may, how do you get your pictures to scan in and now lose some of the image or have it become very light?

I'm not sure I truely understand your question, but I'll answer it as best I can.
First, I'll let you know exactly what scanner I own. HP ScanJet 6300C.
I couldn't tell you what all that means, besides HP(Hewlet Packard... sp?) and C(color).
Well, I just use the scanner's importing program if I don't want to mess around with the image in PhotoShop(then I would import using PS).
Then with Microsoft Office Picture Manager, I change the contrast, brightness, and midtones. That's about it. What did you mean by "now lose some of the image"?

I think I mistyped because what I meant was the scanner didn't pick up the whole image and it was faded to the point of not being there anymore.
